Mindfulness Discussion Group - Education Justice Project

The Education Justice Project is accepting applications until March 1, 2024!

MDG members meet weekly at Danville Correctional Center to discuss their individual mindfulness practices, including the obstacles they encounter and how to overcome them. Members also talk about the benefits of mindfulness, and the connections between mindfulness and other fields of study. All of this is supplemented with a variety of readings on the theory and research of mindfulness.

MDG member Victor M. Ramos states, “The integration of mindfulness into my daily life in the prison has been very transformative, especially living in a hostile, depressive, and stressful environment.” The current co-coordinator of MDG is Julia Spielmann.

The Mindfulness Discussion Group created the BIPOC resource guide, which includes a list of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color mindfulness teachers and practitioners and resources, such as apps, books, podcasts, and videos, they have created.
