Deported Americans Panel

February 26 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

With frightening “mass deportations” of our undocumented neighbors underway, EJP is hosting an event on the topic of Deported Americans, a book by attorney and professor Beth Caldwell. The term refers to deported people who have lived in the US for decades, often since they were young children, who consider themselves Americans but were born in other countries. It also refers to US citizens who were forced to leave the country to be with a deported spouse or loved one. There are an estimated 1 million US citizens living in Mexico because of a deported family member.

Join EJP  for a panel discussion with Beth Caldwell, the author of Deported Americans, Tran Dang, the director of the Rhizome Center for Migrants, as well as EJP member Alex Vergara and Chelsea Hurtado, both deported Americans living in Guatemala and Mexico, respectively.

If you are on campus, stop by the EJP office and grab a copy of Deported Americans to read before the event.
