Creating accessible Word documents 

Developing accessible documents allows for wide audiences of users to retrieve and share information. In this session, participants will learn how common formatting practices can limit the information available to groups of users, as well as practice simple alternatives which reduce barriers to information. Participants will be asked to interact with Microsoft Word tools to create accessible documents — specifically, using Word formatting tools to create heading structures, integrate images (with alt-text), quickly adjust font styles, and hyperlinked text. 

For the best practical experience, members are asked to have a laptop or desktop (I.e., device with a larger screen) with Microsoft Word installed. If you have questions or need additional accommodations to participate in this meeting, please feel free to email me in advance (dunse2@illinois.edu).
